ALEJANDRO VON BÜREN
The Spanish magazine Scherzo has described baritone Alejandro von Büren as “a baritone with a torrential voice and exquisite subtlety, qualities guided by a passionate intelligence devoted to music and its fascinating emotional power.” The baritone Alejandro von Büren enjoys an active career spanning opera, symphonic-choral repertoire, and recital performance.
His operatic repertoire includes roles such as Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Don Giovanni, Guglielmo, Papageno, Belcore, Malatesta, Valentin, Albert, Marcello, Silvio, and Escamillo, about whom Scherzo wrote: “Escamillo was performed by the commanding and powerful voice of Alejandro von Büren, whose bold and energetic phrasing made a remarkable impression.”
In his symphonic repertoire includes Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, performed at Madrid’s National Auditorium of Music with the ORCAM Symphony Orchestra and Choir, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, the Requiems by Mozart and Jommelli, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung (The Creation), and Handel’s Messiah. Alongside his concert work, he regularly performs lied, French mélodie, and Russian art song, with works by Schubert, Schumann, Richard Strauss, Mahler, Duparc, Fauré, Ravel, Rachmaninov, Falla, and Halffter.

He has appeared at prestigious venues including the Teatro Real (Madrid), Teatro Cervantes, Palau de les Arts, Palau de la Música Catalana, and the Leopoldina Hall in Wrocław (Poland), among others.
Before establishing his career in Europe, he was a member of Venezuela’s National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs (El Sistema), where he worked under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. As part of this internationally acclaimed institution, he performed at some of the world's leading concert venues, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the John F. Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center in the United States, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Salzburg Festival in Austria.
Among his distinctions are First Prize at the Pedro Bote International Music Competition, Second Prize at the Ciudad de Albox Chamber Music Competition, the Award for Best Performance of a Song by Antón García Abril, and Second Prize at the Lola Rodríguez de Aragón Competition in Madrid.
During the 2026 season, Alejandro von Büren appears in new productions of Verdi’s La Traviata, Menotti’s Goya, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio at Madrid’s National Auditorium of Music. He also presents a series of vocal recitals as part of the Teatro Real’s Crescendo Programme.
